Thank you so much for your support and participation in WISE 2014. Due to the positive feedback we are already thinking ahead to next year’s plans! As a follow up to our first annual professional development workshops in sustainability and equality, please let us know if you need anything or if we can help you follow up with something.
Our next get-together is our informal, monthly, MESJdrink. This is a great opportunity to network with like-minded educators and unwind after a busy week at school. It is an especially good occasion to talk about project planning ideas, current events, and to see what other teachers are doing in classroom (i.e. contextualizing ‘Operation Impact,’ and the recent bombing of Fallujah, Iraq by Canadian forces). This month we are meeting on November 28th @ 4:00 at Cousins Deli & Lounge, 55 Sherbrook St. We hope to see you there.
Some of you expressed interest in getting more involved with MESJ. Please drop us a line if you would like any more information of helping out with: MESJmeet (our monthly formal business meeting), MESJspeaks (professional development opportunities), MESJblog (blog posts, unit plans & other resources), WISE2015 (planning), and/or solidarity and outreach (with other social justice groups, NGOs, activist groups, and/or non-profit organizations). We would really love to have more math & science teachers in MESJ as we feel they are underrepresented, as well as, elementary and middle school teachers. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested, please contact us.
Again, thanks for helping us make our first official endeavor such a huge success.
